MavericKids returns for its sixth year, inspiring children to dream bigger
Buy one, donate one! For every MavericKids bought from the Daily Maverick Shop, we will donate a copy to Gift of the Givers who will distribute both the books and a stationery pack to children in need of reading support.
Made for smart, curious and independent South African children aged between 8 and 12 years, The MavericKids Activity Book Volume 6 turns reading into something of an adventure. From science and nature, to money, culture and the human body, it encourages children to ask questions, follow their curiosity and discover something new with every turn of the page. Each topic is followed by fun activities like puzzles, sudoku, word searches and various creative projects that children can do alone or with their loved ones.
Over the past five years, 12,838 books have been donated to children through the initiative. Gift of the Givers has also shared encouraging feedback from schools, reporting greater pupil engagement, growing enthusiasm for the books and improvements in pupils’ vocabulary.
We aim to donate another 2,000 books in the next year.
